Why Journal?

Many people know what journaling is: writing down your thoughts. Often, it is associated with diary, which in its own sense, comes with a lot of stereotypes and assumptions. Why I encourage you to stray away from asking what is journaling is because the question in itself means theres a right answer. But, journaling is however you decide to define it. instead, you should be asking: Why journal?

Journaling helps you

  • process stress
  • recognize patterns
  • acknowledge personal growth
  • set goals
  • practice gratitude
  • celebrate good moments

Research supports that expressive writing, aligning with journaling, supports emotional well-being and emotional processing. It is not a cure for mental health conditions, but is viewed by professionals as a valuable self-reflection tool.
